Microfibre Blends
Jan 11, 2022
Microfibre towels are generally a blend of polyester and polyamide. The polyamide is what they split into ultra-fine filaments. It is the gaps between split fibres of the microfibre that grab the particles of dirt and allow large amounts of moisture to be absorbed. Therefore, the higher the content of polyamide means a microfibre towel has more gaps between the fibres for grabbing dirt and absorbing liquids.
There are currently three common blends of microfibre available in the Australian market:
• 70% Polyester and 30% Polyamide
• 80% Polyester and 20% Polyamide
• 90% Polyester and 10% Polyamide
The 80% – 20% ratio is the most popular blend you will see in microfibre cleaning products. Commercial & name brand microfibre cloths & towels are made from 80% – 20% microfibre, this blend will give the consumer a great wipe quality at a cost-effective price.
To increase profits big discount retail stores will reduce the percentage of polyamide, which means that the overall quality of the cloth will be reduced. They also reduce the quality of polyamide used which will also reduce the overall performance and quality. The old saying “you get what you pay for” definitely applies to a microfibre cloth. Be careful what you purchase.
Both the softness and absorbency of microfibre cloths are dependant on how fine the split fibres of microfibre are.
Microfibre cloth and towels we sell are all made from microfibre blend of 80%-20% blend or 70%-30%. Customer satisfaction is our highest priority and we endeavour to provide a quality product at a fair price.
